After completing the painting we decided it was time to get some furniture in the space. We knew we wanted to keep the TV in the corner near the fireplace. The corner had more space than previously due to the removal of the book shelf. We wanted a long sofa opposite the fireplace and the TV and were hoping to work in a chair. We decided not to go with an L shape arrangement because it would block the path to the door for the deck.
Here is what we ended up with for the sofa. It's called Walton and is from West Elm.
We like the modern boxy style and felt it gave a nice update to the space. It's long but has large pillows that make it comfortable. We like the fact that it had one long seating cushion rather than 3 or 4. It's nice for laying down and it has a nice clean line.
While checking out the sofa we also found a chair. We were able to walk out of the store with the chair but of course had the sofa delivered.
We like the fact that everything is low and makes the room feel very open. We kept the path clear to the deck door which was important to us. As you can guess the crates were only a temporary condition until we could find tables that we liked. The lights were our first round of lamps for the space and were from Ikea. We felt like they were very modern and gave adequate lighting for the room.
